The MBTA hosted its Fourth Annual Water Transportation Awareness Week
from June 17th through June 21st 2002. This year's highlight celebrated
the acquisition of Harbor Express and the unveiling of the MBTA's new
water service ad campaign "Sea Us Now." The kick-off event included
a gathering of state and local dignitaries to officially christen the
ferryboat "Lightning" into MBTA service as well as
a
ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil new improvements to the Logan Water

The Fourth Annual Water Transportation Awareness Week celebrated 26 years
of a continued commitment by the MBTA to strengthen and expand water transportation.
To further heighten the awareness of water transportation services, the
MBTA organized a coalition of local businesses, state agencies, and private
boat operators to participate in the weeklong celebration through various
promotions.
